Revive your Spine with Cats and Dogs

Updated: Aug 2, 2023

The human body is a biodynamic marvel and our spine plays an important role in this. Its S-curve allows for exceptional mobility, flexibility, strength and shock dispersion.

Unfortunately, many of us have lost the natural S-curve of the spine, with our backs over time taking on more of a C-curve. As a result, not only do we lose the benefits of the S-curve, we are met with a host of new challenges. Muscles are used incorrectly, or 'go offline', the weight of our head becomes harder to carry, the lower body cannot operate the way it should and our muscles start to tighten and harden, losing all their springy flexibility.

This hardening in particular can make it seem like the C-curve is here to stay. Luckily there are specific movements you can introduce to your body that will slowly start reminding your muscles how to move, and your muscles in turn will reposition your vertebrae to restore that splendid S-curve.

In the video below I introduce you to one of those movements. It's called Cats and Dogs and can work wonders for your back. Try it out and let me know how it feels!

A little note: Please always listen to your body!! Everyone's body and posture is different and there are people who shouldn't do this ecise off the bat. If it hurts you to be on hands and knees or to perform the motion described in the video, you are one of them. If so, please contact me via my website for a one-on-one session so I can assess your posture and create an ecise menu tailored to you, your needs and your lifestyle.
